Judging for the competition was held at the Bathurst Council Chambers last Saturday, with four contestants: Charlotte Kamper, Hannah Chapman, Emelia Inwood and 2019 runner-up Laura Van Uum: vying for the title.
Showgirl steward Vicki Wilson said each contestant made a stellar impression during the judging process, ensuring a tough process to determine the winner.
"Each contestant is judged on their appearance and presentation, as well as their responses to questions related to local issues, international knowledge and their own experiences," Ms Wilson said.
"There's no right or wrong answers, the girls are judged on the quality of their answers."
The winner is normally announced at a special function held separately to the Royal Bathurst Show but was moved to the main event for logistics purposes.
Ms Wilson said the competition helps young women in the Bathurst community unearth their true potential as model citizens.
"We've got some wonderful young women in Bathurst and this competition is an opportunity to showcase their vibrancy and intelligence," she said.
"In the 21 years I've run the event in Bathurst, we've had one winner and two runner-ups in the statewide competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, one of the runners-up being 2019 Bathurst winner Steph Ferguson."
Ms Wilson said the winner will also gain the opportunity to participate in a two-day deportment course in Dubbo, teaching skills in etiquette and elegance.
"The course is funded by the Bathurst Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral [A,H and P] Association," she said.
Around 500 young women compete in Showgirl competitions statewide across seven zones, with Bathurst part of Zone 6.
The winner will be announced on Saturday at 12.10pm during the show's official opening.
