2024 RBS Young Painters Award

Congratulations to Suzannah Ford who has been awarded the Royal Bathurst Show Young Painters Award or the "Whiteley Memorial" for 2024.

This award is presented annually to the best young painter exhibiting at the Royal Bathurst Show in memory of iconic Australian painter Brett Whiteley who was awarded this prize at 17 in 1956 whilst a student at the Scots School Bathurst.

It is believed Whiteley entered 4 works in our show that year, "... a portrait, a still life. a painting of the school and an abstract." Apparently none of these works are currently 'known' and our records do not confirm which work won him his first known art prize. So there is the mystery.
